How Does Molecular Hydrogen Work?

Molecular hydrogen (H₂) is the smallest molecule in existence — small enough to penetrate cell membranes and reach mitochondria directly.

The Technology

Our devices use PEM/SPE (Proton Exchange Membrane / Solid Polymer Electrolyte) technology to electrolyze purified water. A specialized membrane separates the water into pure molecular hydrogen (H2) on one side and oxygen (O2) on the other, achieving over 99.9% purity.

The Process

You breathe the hydrogen gas through a comfortable nasal cannula for 30–60 minutes. The process is non-invasive, requires no supplements, and fits easily into your daily routine — while reading, working, or relaxing.

The Effect

Inhaled H2 acts as a selective antioxidant, targeting only harmful reactive oxygen species while preserving beneficial ones. Studies show it has a direct effect on the body's oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), shifting it towards recovery and reducing oxidative stress.

Safety

An Excellent Safety Profile

No serious adverse effects reported in any clinical trial, regardless of delivery method (inhalation, water, IV, bathing, capsules).
Japan: Approved H2 inhalation as Advanced Medical Treatment (Class B) for post-cardiac arrest care.
China: Included H2/O2 therapy in official COVID-19 treatment guidelines.
Hydrogen concentrations: H2 concentrations below 4% in room air are considered safe and non-explosive.
H2 becomes flammable at concentrations of 4–75% in air. Hydration devices deliver H2 at maximum levels only to you directly. In the room's ambient air, concentrations are far below 4%, far below the flammability threshold. Our PEM/SPE devices separate H2 and O2 to prevent combustible mixing inside the device. Always use devices in ventilated areas, and keep the outlet away from open flames.
PEM/SPE Technology: PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) / SPE (Solid Polymer Electrolyte) generators use a specialized membrane (typically Nafion®) to electrolyze water. The membrane allows protons (H+) to pass through while blocking oxygen, producing >99.9% pure H2 on one side and O2 on the other. PEM/SPE is the gold standard for medical-grade hydrogen because of its purity, reliability, and separation of gases. That is why our PEM/SPE generators require the use of distilled water only.

Important Note: Many studies listed have small sample sizes and are pilot or preliminary in nature. The field of molecular hydrogen research is actively evolving and would benefit from more large-scale, multi-center randomized controlled trials.
